Xbox One has had another price cut in the US, with prices now starting from $279, Microsoft has announced.

The discount follows just two weeks after the last price cut, when Microsoft dropped the console to $299. The new price will be available for “a limited time”, the platform holder says.

Microsoft announced a new slimline Xbox One yesterday, the Xbox One S, which includes a 4K Blu-ray player, a 40% smaller design, and upscales Xbox One games to 4K. It’s due to go on sale this August from $299 (£249).

It also revealed plans for Project Scorpio, a more powerful Xbox console due to release in late 2017.

It isn’t yet known whether the Xbox One will receive a similar price cut in the UK, with prices currently hovering around £279.99.
