In an update on his blog, Major Nelson, aka Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hyrb, announced that Xbox Live would undergo essential maintenance this coming Tuesday 27th June between the hours of 10am-2pm GMT.

Connections to Xbox Live Arcade, along with Marketplace and all online gaming will be unavailable during the maintenance, as will the ‘My Xbox’ section of Xbox.com. Whilst all other aspects of Xbox.com will be available as per normal, the official forums will only be available in read only mode.

Before the obligatory ‘Xbox Live to be upgraded‘ forum posts propagate across the internet, Hyrb was quick to dash the hopes of gamers with the news that the downtime was for “server maintenance…nothing more, nothing less.“
