Despite hearing about it AGES ago, Xbox Live Arcade has finally launched in Europe. Through Live Arcade, Microsoft plan to release a plethora of mini games, all available for download.

In order to activate the service Microsoft are releasing starter discs with demos of Poker, Hearts, Spades, Backgammon and Chess, amongst others. The discs will allow people with Xbox Live to access the service and download full versions of these games and many others. The service is slated to include a wide variety of different games types, with new titles made available each month.

Games will range in price from £7.49 to £11.50 for more advanced titles. When you consider that many of these games are available for free on your PC, this sounds less appealing, but it’s still a welcome addition to Xbox Live and should help to attract a wider audience for the service.

Starter discs will be included with all new Xboxes and can also be obtained, for free, by calling this 0800 587 1102.
