An Xbox Live ban will not lock you out of your Xbox One games library, Microsoft’s Major Nelson has confirmed.
“Absolutely not,” Major Nelson told Reddit in response to a question relating to Xbox Live bans. “You will always have access to the games you purchased.”
The Major was clarifying earlier comments made by the Xbox Support Twitter which stated: “If your account is banned, you also forfeit the licenses to any games that have licenses tied to it as listed in the ToU”.
Furthermore, Major Nelson said that Microsoft would never cut off access to Xbox One games should the platform’s servers be shut down.
“I’ll just say this: We haven’t even started this generation, so it’s kind of early to talk about the end of the generation,” said Major Nelson. “That’s certainly something that we would not do. That’s not the way the system is designed. It’s designed for flexibility. But let’s get the system out there first.”
