Xbox LIVE Arcade games released June 1 onwards must feature a base Gamerscore of 400 with a maximum of 30 Achievements, up from 200 points and 20 Achievements, reports Xbox360Achievements.

A source has told the Xbox 360 website that not only will the base requirement rise, but developers also have more freedom with DLC. Previous DLC rules allowed for 50 Gamerscore and five Achievements per quarter, for a maximum of three quarters. New rules will bump this to 100 Gamerscore and eight Achievements per quarter, for a maximum of four quarters.

This means over the lifetime of an Xbox LIVE Arcade game the total Gamerscore will rise from the old maximum of 350 to a massive 800, whilst Achievements will jump from 35 to 62.

New rules are voluntary from April 1 through May 31, but titles released June 1 onwards must offer the new Gamerscore/Achievements.
