Xbox Game Pass, a Netflix style subscription service for game downloads, will launch for Xbox One in late spring, Microsoft has announced. The service will cost $9.99 a month, though Eurogamer is reporting £7.99 for the UK.

There’s the promise of over 100 Xbox One and backwards compatible Xbox 360 games available at launch, with new games cycling into the library each month. Some titles will also cycle out.

“One of the best things about Xbox Game Pass is that you can discover and download the full titles directly on your Xbox One. That means continuous, full-fidelity gameplay without having to worry about streaming, bandwidth or connectivity issues.” explains Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

Halo 5: Guardians, Gears of Wars: Ultimate Edition, Payday 2, NBA 2K16 and LEGO Batman are confirmed, as is support from publishers including 2K, 505 Games, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, Capcom, Codemasters, Deep Silver, Focus Home Interactive, SEGA, SNK CORPORATION, THQ Nordic GmbH, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft Studios.

Xbox Game Pass members will also save 20 per cent on Xbox One game purchases on titles currently in the catalogue, and 10 per cent on DLC.

Some Xbox Insider Program members are already testing Game Pass, ahead of the late spring rollout to all Xbox One gamers.

A few other titbits of information for you. You won’t need an Xbox Live Gold membership to access Xbox Game Pass, though multiplayer elements will remain locked behind Gold. Once a Game Pass title has been downloaded it can be played offline for up to 30 days before needing to be reactivated online.
