Worldwide sales of Xbox 360 hardware between January and March 2012 were only 1.4 million units, down 48 per cent from 2.7 million units in the same period last year.
Life to date sales of Xbox 360 stand at 67.2 million units. As of December 31, 2011 PS3 has sold 62 million units, whilst the Wii is way ahead with 95 million units.
Kinect sales have also dipped, but Microsoft hasn’t said by how much.
Xbox revenue as a whole is down 33 per cent to $584 million and Entertainment and Devices Division research and development costs rose 35 per cent to $335 million – where’s the extra cash going?
EDD total revenue is down 16 per cent to $1.62 billion, with Microsoft placing much of the blame on a “soft gaming console market”.
