Well, they didn’t really like the first Xbox but if Capcom executive, Yoshiki Okamoto is to be believed, the Japanese public would be putting in their pre-orders tomorrow if Microsoft would release details of the list of developers currently signed up to make games for Xbox 2.

Okamoto-san has recently come out as the third big-name Japanese designer confirmed to be working on games for the Xbox 2 joining Rez creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Final Fantasy main man Hironobu Sakaguchi. However, in an interview with the Official Japanese Xbox magazine, the Capcom man expressed his surprise at hearing some of the other, unannounced titles currently in development: “If the current line-up [of titles] in development for the next-generation Xbox was revealed, it would not only surprise users, but the entire industry,” he said. “There probably wouldn’t be anyone [in Japan] that would still be uninterested in buying the next-generation Xbox when they see the line-up.”

He gave no further information on the subject and also revealed little about what his own studio had up its sleeve but it’s probably safe to assume he’s not talking about Halo 3.
