2K has advised PS4 and Xbox One players not to download WWE 2K16’s new ‘Future Stars’ DLC until it has resolved an issue causing save data to become corrupt.

According to online reports, the new DLC introduces a bug that wipes save data linked to the game’s Universe Mode, potentially wasting hours of progress. The issue only affects players on PS4 and Xbox One, however, with the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions said to be unaffected.

“We’re aware of an issue some users are experiencing with Universe Mode save data connected to the Future Stars Pack DLC,” 2K wrote in an update on its forum. “After initial investigation, we’ve found this issue only affects PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users will not experience this issue.

“If you are an active Universe Mode player on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, we recommend waiting to download the Future Stars Pack until we fully investigate and resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience.”

At the time of writing, the Future Stars Pack is still available to download for £6.49/£6.39 on both PS4 and Xbox One. 2K has yet to provide an update on when it expects to have resolved the issue.

Earlier today, 2K announced that it had extended its partnership with WWE, allowing it to continue developing games using the wrestling license for “many more years” to come.
