Wrath of the Lich King, the second expansion to the hugely successful MMO World of Warcraft, will be released in North America and Europe on November 13, Blizzard has confirmed.

“We’re looking forward to launching Wrath of the Lich King and finally giving World of Warcraft players a chance to take on Arthas and his minions,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment in a statement. “Until then, we’ll continue to refine and playtest the expansion content to make sure it provides a highly polished and entertaining experience.”

Wrath of the Lich King will add new areas and new features to the already bulging Warcraft universe, including the continent of Northrend, home of the Lich King himself. The level cap will be raised from 70 to 80, a new Achievements system will be implemented and the game’s first hero class, the Death Knight, will be introduced.

Blizzard has also detailed the Collector’s Edition of the expansion, which will contain a 208-page book The Art of World of Warcraft, an exclusive in-game pet – Frosty, the baby frost wyrm, a behind the scenes DVD, the official soundtrack, a mouse pad and two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game March of the Legion starter decks.
