Team 17 has announced Worms WMD, a new game in its wormongering 2D strategy series heading to Xbox One and PC in 2016.

Worms WMD promises to introduce a “brand new” cartoon-inspired character design and hand-drawn environments, and will feature vehicles for the very first time. Quite how you use them, though, I’ve no idea.

Players will also be able to enter buildings, which Team 17 says adds “new strategic elements” to the traditional gameplay. The game will be fully revealed at Gamescom next week alongside Team 17’s other titles Beyond Eyes, Sheltered, Strength of the Sword: Ultimate, Penarium and The Escapists The Walking Dead.

Worms WMD’s announcement follows yesterday’s reveal of Worms 4, another new game in the series heading to iOS next month.
