Worms developer Team 17 has announced an all-new Worms spin-off in the form of Worms Crazy Golf, which looks set to arrive on PlayStation 3, PC and iOS ‘later this year’.

According to the developer, Worms Crazy Golf will keep the 2D aesthetic of the original games, but will shift the focus from bloodthirsty deathmatches to 18-hole action.

“While probably not an obvious combination, Worms Crazy Golf is an irreverent mash-up of our own turn-based strategy game “Worms” and everyone’s favourite turn-based game of hitting balls with sticks,” admits Team 17’s John Dennis.

In keeping with the series’ multiplayer reputation, Worms Crazy Golf will support full four-player multiplayer, as well as a plethora of fan-favourites, including sheep, old women, moles, magnets and mines, serving as obstacles across all three of the game’s 18-hole courses.

Worms Crazy Golf is set for release on PSN for PlayStation 3, Steam for PC, and iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
