Focus Home Interactive and Saber Interactive have unearthed a maggot-infested release date for World War Z, confirming the game will launch on April 16 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

World War Z will also offer pre-order incentives, as is typical of most games these days, in the shape of the Lobo Weapons Pack. This features golden skins for the ARK-103 assault rifle, Keris V10 SMG, and 1911 Protector, plus the titular melee weapon itself, described as 'a dual-bladed spade perfect for making mincemeat of the undead.'

World War Z places a huge emphasis on multiplayer, pitting groups of players against swarms of flesh-hungry undead. The game will arrive with a meaty lineup of modes, including Scavenge Raid, Vaccine Hunt, Swarm Deathmatch, Swarm Domination, and King of the Hill.

The main highlight here is obviously Saber's Swarm Engine, which is capable of chucking legions of fast-moving zombies your way, as you battle across locations including New York, Moscow, Jerusalem, and more.
