Saber Interactive has released a new update for multiplayer co-operative zombie shooter World War Z, bringing with it a new Extreme difficulty level and more.

The update, entitled the Six Skulls Update, is the latest major update in the planned first season of post-launch content on the way. As well as the harder difficulty mode, it includes a new Wakizashi sword reward for any players who finish a level on the new difficulty, and a unique Sniper Rifle variant for those who prove their mettle by completing all campaigns on Extreme.

There's a video to go along with this update, posted below, that also teases some of the future content coming to the shooter, including the new 'big update' set to come at the end of July or early August, as well as a weekly challenge mode and difficulty modifiers, with more info promised soon. You can see the full list of changes in this update in the patch notes on the game's website.

World War Z is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC via the Epic Games Store and has proven very popular, with more than 70,000 concurrent players on the week of launch.
