The total sales for virtual purchases of Cenarion Hatchling pets in World of Warcraft will be contributed to the Red Cross.

The sales, which have totalled over $1.9 million, will be sent in full to the Red Cross‘s Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami relief fund, Massively reports.

This is the second time Blizzard has introduced in-game charity contributions. Last May sales of the Moonkin Hatchling raised $800,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The game has also recently found a fan in Russian President Dmitryy Medvedev, who thinks the MMO would make a perfect teaching tool for school-age children.
