World of Warcrafters eager to while away the months with the Burning Crusade expansion still have a bit of a wait in store; Blizzard Entertainment have stated that the “goal is to ship the expansion pack by the end of the year.“
However, even before the game receives its first add-on there’s already talk about what to expect in the years to come. Blizzard has confirmed to GameSpot that goal is to release new expansions each year.
“Our ideal scenario would be to release new expansions every year, and that’s what we’re aiming for,” said a Blizzard rep.
If Burning Crusade does make its winter release then we could be looking at annual expansions arriving in time for Christmas; however, Blizzard was quick to point out that “given the nature of game development cycles, we may not always be able to hit our target release goals.“
With a subscriber base nearing 7 million, it’s hard to see anything stopping the World of Warcraft juggernaut from dominating the MMO market in the foreseeable future.
