One of Wolfenstein: The New Order’s key voice actresses has strongly suggested that a sequel to the 2014 shooter could be in development.
As reported by Eurogamer, Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curus, who played Anya Oliwa in last year’s shooter, is reported to have told TV station TVN that she is working on a “second one”, adding that the unannounced title will “take two more years” to complete.
“I’m working on a video game, first part of which I have already made,” she is reported to have said. “Now we’re making a second one, which will take two more years.”
“I played this game as a child. I was very happy when I got to the point where I could shoot Hitler.”
While she stopped short of naming Wolfenstein directly, Oliwa’s comments appear to make it fairly clear that a sequel to The New Order could be in the works. Bethesda has yet to formally announce a new game in the series.
Prior to original game’s release last year, creative director Jens Matthies revealed that developer MachineGames had “lots of ideas for a sequel and we’d love to do one. It hinges on the financial success of [The New Order], of course,” he said.
While sales figures for The New Order have never been revealed by Bethesda, a report from industry site MCV claimed that it was the UK’s 22nd best-selling game of 2014.
A standalone prequel to The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC back in May.
