Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty may have released with encouraging reviews, though the developers have still had to publish a statement apologising for recent performance issues.

Gamers enjoying Wo Long on console might have had nothing but good things to say about the game, despite other publishers stating it’s the ‘biggest catastrophe of a PC port‘ ever seen.

Thank you for supporting Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the current problems being experienced.

We are investigating and addressing the various bug reports that we have received and are preparing to release a patch soon that will improve camera operation when using a mouse, as well as address other issues. We will announce additional details as they become available.

Team Ninja, developers of the game, released the above statement which apologises to fans for problems with the game, while also promising that a patch will be released soon which fixes the camera problems.

The issue at hand is not something unheard of with Souls-like games, or Souls-games themselves, which have had a long-standing history of poor compatibility with keyboard and mouse. It’s not necessarily a criticism of the developers, but rather a problem with the third-person RPG format itself.

The issue in question seems to make character movement and direction handling near impossible, especially if you’re moving slowly. Any souls-like players will know how important sneaking around and calculated movement is, so having glitches prevent you from looking around in-game is less than ideal. A keyboard and mouse doesn’t naturally lend itself to third person gaming as much as a controller does, so it’s not out of the ordinary for game to be experiencing these issues.

However, there’s also reports that some gamers are not able to reach 60FPS on PC, which seems to be a whole other issue. To add to this, the game’s experiencing issues with a black screen on launch, and it seems that the developers had a pre-prepared solution to this published on their site.

It’s not clear when exactly the patch will be released, though surely the developers will be keen to develop a working solution before the dust has settled.

We’re going to be keeping an eye out for the latest updates on Wo Long Fallen Dynasty performance issues, so in the meantime you might be interested in reading about the best graphics settings. Make sure to check back in with us periodically for the latest updates.
