Sony Computer Entertainment has announced plans to release the PS3 Wireless Keypad worldwide this holiday. The new peripheral will fit precisely into the unique shape of the PS3 controller – Sixaxis or DualShock 3 – and can be easily attached and removed.
The Wireless Keypad will enable PS3 users to more easily and comfortably use their hands to communicate with friends via text chat. The peripheral supports text chat in PlayStation Home and will also be supported by a host of online titles including LittleBigPlanet.
In addition to offering greatly improved text input, a single button press will transform the surface of the keypad into a touch pad, which can then be used to easily manoeuvre the pointer while browsing the internet.
The Wireless Keypad will be released in North America in November, with Europe, Japan and Asia also promised before the year end.
