Following today’s launch of Ms. Pac-Man, internet rumours are touting shoot-’em-up Heavy Weapon as next Wednesday’s Xbox Live Arcade release.

Microsoft has been keeping a pretty rigorous weekly launch schedule of XBLA titles so far and Heavy Weapon publisher PopCap already has its own Astropop and Feeding Frenzy games available on the download service.

Describing its next XBLA release, PopCap said: “[Heavy Weapon] is shoot-’em-up arcade action at its best. Use an incredible assortment of heavy artillery to blast away enemy tanks and planes, and fight your way to victory. What are you waiting for? Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get into the action!”

The rumours about the game’s XBLA debut come from a reputable blog, which was the first to announce Ms. Pac-Man’s appearance earlier this month, but Microsoft has so far declined to comment on the rumours. The company normally waits until the Monday or Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s launch before officially announcing the next XBLA instalment.

So stay tuned people and we will let you know as soon as we have something more concrete. Like PopCap’s other titles, Heavy Weapon is already available as a downloadable PC game.
