Nintendo has released a Wii update today enabling users to download and run games and other tools directly from an inserted SD memory card.
Virtual Console, WiiWare and other Channels can now be run from an SD card (up to 32GB is now supported), and users can access the card’s contents by selecting the SD icon on the lower left of the Wii system homepage. Users can store up to 240 Channels (games, tools etc) over 20 pages.
The only limitation of the new SD card functionality appears to be an inability to access game saves on an SD card, which must first be transferred to the Wii system memory.
