Nintendo has denied reports that the Wii U has been hacked, enabling access to the console’s debug menu.

Reports on NeoGAF suggested the system’s debug menu was accidentally accessed, revealing posts made to Miiverse by admins. There was also mention of unannounced games and other information not meant for public consumption.

However, Nintendo has said all is not what it seemed.

“It has come to our attention that some people were able to access a mock up menu on Miiverse following the launch of Wii U in the US,” said Nintendo in a statement given to Games Industry International. “Please note that this was only a mock up menu and has now been removed and is not accessible.”

Wii U launched in the US yesterday and hits UK stores on November 30.
