The GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U will only be compatible with Super Smash Bros., Nintendo has confirmed.
Confusion over the adapter’s compatibility follows an alleged entry on the Nintendo Store this morning stating that it would be “compatible with all games supported by the Wii U Pro Controller”. The line was later deleted.
“The GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U is compatible with Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U specifically – it is not compatible with any other Wii U software,” Nintendo told VideoGamer.com earlier today.
“The adapter is also not compatible with Wii and we apologise for any confusion.”
The adapter, which lets players hook up to four GameCube controllers to the Wii U, goes on sale alongside Super Smash Bros. on December 5 for £17.99.
A bundle containing a copy of the game and the adapter will also be available for £54.99.
