Wii U game discs will hold 25GB of data, Nintendo announced during this morning’s Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast.

The disc format is yet to be revealed, but 25GB brings back memories of the failed HD DVD format.

Data can be read from the disc at a rate of 22.5MB/s.

Nintendo also confirmed earlier reports that the Wii U will feature 2GB or RAM, split evenly between the system OS and games.

And for fans of power consumption stats, Wii U eats up to 75 watts, with a typical usage of 45 watts.
