The Wii U had a much needed boost in sales for the week of July 8 in Japan, Media Create figures have revealed.
In the week which finally saw Pikmin 3 arrive in stores, Wii U hardware sales rose 169 per cent from 8,251 units to 22,199 units. The 3DS continues to rule the hardware roost, selling 43,435 units.
Pikmin 3 itself, which launched July 13, shifted 92,720 copies.
Also new this week was New Super Luigi U, which moved 24,881 copies.
Whilst the Wii U sales increase is very much needed, Pikmin 3’s launch week sales of under 100k doesn’t bode well for its longevity.
