MCV reports that Nintendo will lower the trade price of the Wii in the UK on October 2, bringing the price back in line with its launch price point of £179.99.
While a price hike followed by a cut doesn’t exactly sound like an amazing deal for consumers, the news that the new Wii bundle will feature Wii MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort in addition to the standard Wii bundle (console, Wii Remote, Nunchuck and Wii Sports), should make for an attractive proposition this winter.
The Wii price will, however, but cut in the US where the console will be available for $199.99 from September 27.
Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing commented: “Wii has reached more video game players than any game system before because it attracts everyone – both men and women, and people of all ages.”
She added: “Our research shows there are 50 million Americans thinking about becoming gamers, and this more affordable price point and our vast array of new software mean many of them can now make the leap and find experiences that appeal to them, whatever their tastes or level of gaming experience.”
