Much like Microsoft introduced Microsoft points with the Xbox, Nintendo has created a virtual currency for the Wii – inventively titled Wii points.

Today Nintendo has confirmed that 2000 Wii points will cost European gamers £14 or 20 Euros, and will be available as cards from retailers or for direct purchase online.

The points can then be used to buy games from the Virtual Console: 500 points (£3.50) for NES games, 800 (£5.60) for SNES, and 1000 (£7) for Nintendo 64 titles.
