Wii PES 2008 out in March

Konami ha today announced that PES 2008 for Wii is to be released across Europe in late March 2008.

The game has been created specifically to make full use of the Wii motion controllers, yet still promises all the realism of Pro Evolution Soccer but with a more team orientated control scheme.

Using a “point and drag” system, players will use the Wii Remote to guide a player with the ball and perform all the skill moves and close control with subtle movements of their hand. The Wii Remote will also be used to point at nearby players, selecting them to receive a pass or run onto a through ball. The run of the receiving player can also be guided using the Wii Remote, adding a new element of control to intricate play.

Shakes of the Nunchuck will initiate a host of actions, including sliding tackles and sending the keeper out to clear the ball. Strategies can also be easily accessed, with the d-pad on the Wii Remote used to activate tactical plays.

Game modes on offer will include Match, League and Cup elements, Training and Trade sections, and the all-new Champions Road competition. Here players take their chosen team to compete in league competitions all over the world. Experience points will be added to all used players after a match, used to improve their attacking ability, technique and stamina. Extra skills can also be unlocked, further enhancing the player’s dream team.

PES 2008 on Wii also features full Mii support, enabling players to integrate up to 16 Miis into a team. Team rosters can also be stored on the Wii Remote, meaning your custom team can be taken round a mate’s house for some competitive action.

Online play is also present, with gamers able to play against unknown opponents or people on their Wii’s Friends list. WiiConnect24 functionality will also make it possible to send team data to friends over the internet.

PES 2008 for Wii is scheduled for release in late March 2008.
