The channel will be installed once you go to the Wii system menu and download an update. This should take a few minutes and once complete the News Channel button should appear in the Wii main menu.

When you load the channel up for the first time it will confirm the time and date, then download some info while a cat sits there on screen. Once this is complete you are free to begin trawling news provided by the Associated Press.

You can browse easily by clicking through a selection of categories, including national/regional/international, sports, arts/entertainment and technology.

The Wii News Channel is a free update and looks to be a nice addition, accompanying the recent launch of the Weather Channel, and upcoming Opera Web Browser (currently in beta form).
