Seaman was a rather strange game. You take on the roll of owner of a talking fish with a human face, and must look after it. The game came bundled with a mic which allowed you to talk to your Seaman and teach him to say new words. It was the game’s originality and quirkiness that won over Japanese gamers and made it the best selling Dreamcast game in Japan. The game didn’t receive a European release, but US Dreamcast owners saw the game released for their console.

Well after a long wait it would seem that a sequel is finally in development. Seaman 2 is coming to the PS2 and is being developed by Vivarium, the team behind the original. Although details are scarce, Seaman 2 will include much more advanced voice recognition technology, allowing your fish to recognise more words and even full sentences. Let’s hope for a European release this time around.
