Update: Voez has now been confirmed as a European Switch launch title, available digitally from Friday.

Original report: Voez, an anime rhythm action game, is the first Nintendo Switch title to only work undocked and held like a traditional tablet.

The game features no button controls, instead making use of the touchscreen.

Publisher Flyhigh Works notes: “This software can not play in TV mode.”

It’s a somewhat odd situation given Nintendo’s positioning of the Switch as a home video games system which you can also take around with you.

“Nintendo Switch is a breakthrough home video game console. It not only connects to a TV at home, but it also instantly transforms into an on-the-go handheld using its 6.2-inch screen. For the first time, players can enjoy a full home-console experience anytime, anywhere,” reads the Switch blurb on the Nintendo Store.

Whether or not Nintendo will allow other titles to work in mobile mode only remains to be seen.
