When fans eventually get a look at Doom 4 they will “see awesome”, id software design director Matthew Hooper has claimed.

His comments follow a series of supposed Doom 4 leaked images and stories of its cancellation.

“Those images have nothing to do with what you’re gonna see in Doom 4,” he Tweeted. “When we officially show things, you’ll see awesome.”

He added: “When we officially show things, fans will be happy.”

It’s assumed Doom 4 will be one of, if not the major draw of QuakeCon 2012 taking place August 2-5.

It’s been a huge wait for Doom 4, with Doom 3 having hit PCs back in 2004. id has been teasing Doom 4 for many years now, and after its no-show at QuakeCon 2011 fans certainly won’t go easy on the anticipated sequel if it doesn’t live up to expectations.
