Wasteland 2: Game of the Year Edition is also coming to PS4, inXile Entertainment has confirmed, following the game’s Xbox One announcement earlier this week.
“We’re excited to announce we’re bringing our crowdfunded RPG Wasteland 2 to PS4, after an award-winning debut on PC,” wrote Eric Schwarz, line producer at inXile. “With Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition, we’re eager to open up the wastes to an even bigger crowd, along with tons of enhancements and improvements.”
Wasteland 2 is a hardcore RPG in which players take control of a squad of four Desert Rangers and must keep peace in the post-apocalyptic Arizona desert. The game puts real value on player choices and changes the experience accordingly, meaning no two playthroughs should be the same.
InXile has ported the game to Unity 5 for the Game of the Year Edition, allowing it to implement new visual effects, improve character models, upgrade environments, and use the engine’s physically-based shading to get more realistic lighting and shadowing.
New voiceover for key characters and story moments have also been integrated, making encounters more memorable for players.
Wasteland 2: Game of the Year Edition will launch late summer 2015.
