The Warner Bros. bid to purchase a large portion of Midway has been granted court approval, following news that it was the only party who bid on the Mortal Kombat publisher.

The deal is expected to be completed in the next 10 days and will see the Mortal Kombat license, This Is Vegas, Midway’s sports and arcade brands, and the company’s Chicago and Seattle studios take a new home at Warner Bros.

The acquisition does not include Midway’s Newcastle and San Diego studios or the TNA license. Joystiq reports that the San Diego studio was given 60 days notice on Wednesday, while the Newcastle studio – currently working on Necessary Force – had already been given notice. A Midway spokesperson said it is possible bids will come in for the two studios, although nothing is on the table at this time.
