Following the release of the awesome Dawn of War – Enhanced Edition, King Art Games has officially announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, the long-awaited next entry in the epic RTS series.

Announced alongside new games like Black Myth: Zhongkui at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, Dawn of War 4 looks like an epic return to the RTS series by the developers of Iron Harvest. As the first game in the series to not be made by Relic Entertainment, King Art wants to take the series back to basics while also focusing heavily on what players want.

Dawn of War 4 sounds absolutely amazing

Confirmed by King Art Games during Gamescom, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 gives players 70+ missions penned by Black Library author John French. Players will also have access to four armies: Blood Ravens, Orks, Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus.

The new RTS game aims to return to the original game’s “mass-battle, base-building roots with deeply satisfying gameplay and a brutal, expanded Sync Kill system”. However, one of the most exciting aspects of the new game is the arrival of an “in-game editor”.

In order to make sure that the newest game has the staying power of the first two games, King Art games is adding an editor to the game specifically to support player-created content. With the first game still kept alive with mods like Ultimate Apocalypse, Unification and more, King Art is hoping to replicate this type of longevity.

Alongside the new in-game editor, King Art is also bringing back the beloved Army Painter feature, standard skirmish multiplayer, four complete co-op campaigns, and even the return of Dawn of War 2’s Last Stand mode, a horde-based survival mode.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 doesn’t release until 2026, and it’s a PC-only release. There’s still a lengthy period until we can play the new game, but it looks pretty damn great already.
