Digital Extremes has announced that online cooperative actioner Warframe has surpassed 38 million registered players worldwide just ahead of the game’s fifth anniversary.

The figure means that the free-to-play title has nabbed eight million new users in the past year alone, with the total figure of registered players having now reached 38,083,936 million. Warframe was originally released on March 21, 2013 in Open Beta for the PC.

Unsurprisingly, players have notched up some impressive milestones during that time. Highlights include 52,972,344 Warframes being cooked up by users, 234,766,197 weapons being crafted, as well as dispatching the game’s final boss, 53,117,969 times.

‘Can it really be five years? When we started Warframe it was a 750MB install with one level,’ commented Warframe’s Creative Director, Steve Sinclair. ‘We had no expectations it would endure even half as long. But you, our Tenno, showed up and guided us and gave us hell! With your support we’ve continued to grow and experiment and with your blessing we’ll continue to do just that. There is still so much left to do… together. On behalf of the team here at Digital Extremes, thank you Tenno. See you at Tennocon!’

Those of you who are avid Warframe players should probably head over to the official website.
