Speaking to G4 at PAX East last weekend, Dead Space 2 executive producer Steve Papoutsis revealed that Visceral is well aware that the demo for the first Dead Space wasn’t great, but plans to deliver a hugely improved sampler this time around.

“We did ourselves a disservice on the original game…a lot of people played it and our demo was not received as the super awesomest thing ever,” said Papoutsis. “That’s one thing, again, we want to make sure this time out we deliver a demo that lets people understand the flavour and experience that’s at the heart of the Dead Space universe. We’re really gonna focus on what’s really good, so that new people get a chance to experience and see what it’s really about.”

He concluded: “It’s our goal to deliver a game that not only after every single chapter you want to keep going, but we want the demo to be the kind of event where you play it and you go “Holy s***, I’m going out right now, I’ve got to get this!” That’s one of the goals that we’re driving towards and I think we’re going to nail that.”

Dead Space 2 is scheduled for an early 2011 release on Xbox 360 and PS3.
