Speaking to Gamasutra, Visceral Games general manager Nick Earl has confirmed the Dante’s Inferno and Dead Space studio has a number of “smaller efforts under way and direct-to-consumer efforts on XBLA and PSN”.
Earl pointed to DICE’s success with Battlefield 1943 as an example of the kind of success that can be achieved in this space.
“That is showing the opportunity there,” said Earl.
He added: “Just like the packaged goods space and the big AAA space, it comes down to quality and innovation and being able to bring something that’s interesting to the gamer. But yes, absolutely. I think we’ll have some interesting offerings over this year and next that show our confidence in the space.”
This backs reports from earlier this month, suggesting a high definition port of on-rails Wii shooter Dead Space: Extraction was in development for Xbox 360 and PS3, in addition to resource strategy title Planet Cracker.
