A third game in the Chronicles of Riddick series has been confirmed by Riddick himself, Vin Diesel.

Diesel says that the Starbreeze development team behind Escape from Butcher Bay has been reformed and will work alongside his own Tigon studio.

“My diehard gamers want Tigon to deliver the third chapter in the Riddick game,” Diesel explained to Screencrush. “We, just of the past couple of months, just this year, reassembled that team from Starbreeze that brought Escape from Butcher Bay to create the third game.”

Diesel told IGN the game is “more of a MMO”, but no platforms or release dates were mentioned. We assume that given the team has only just been reformed, the project could be years away from release.

The third movie in the Riddick franchise, simply titled Riddick, opened in the US last weekend to a respectable $18.7 million.
