Stoic Games has super-glued a June 7 release date to story-driven Viking epic The Banner Saga 2 on Nintendo Switch.

All three games are coming to the hybrid powerhouse this summer, with The Banner Saga launching tomorrow and The Banner Saga 3 following on July 26.

The indie darling was originally released on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One back in 2016, and follows the original game's template of turn-based combat while benefiting from a few extra bits and bobs such as extra units, talents, and enemies. Sounds like a sequel to us, then.

Crucially, The Banner Saga 2 greatly expands on one of the series' staple mechanics, namely choice. While your actions always mattered in the first game, the sequel gives you far more scope and options when it comes to shaping your adventure.

'We are proud to launch Banner Saga 2 on Nintendo Switch, hot on the heels of the launch of the first game, The Banner Saga last month.  There has never been a better time to get into this awarding winning series. Strategy and RPG Nintendo Switch fans will get the opportunity to play through the entire saga, from start to finish, this Summer when the third and final chapter Banner Saga 3 releases.  Playing this game on the Nintendo Switch is truly a joy, allowing you to play whenever and wherever you can,' beamed Versus Evil's Steve Escalante.

The Banner Saga will also be coming to mobile platforms later this year.
