Admittedly we’re not actually off for a couple of weeks – E3 2012 runs from June 5 to 7 – but I wanted you to know about our plans ahead of time. This year, thanks to most publishers having a reduced presence at the show, not as many of Team VG will be going: only Neon and myself will be lucky ones chosen to nip over to the great U S of A and bring you various bits of gossip about the latest games. Will the Wii U be revealed? Will Microsoft go on and on and on about Kinect and entertainment apps? Will Sony even show The Last Guardian?

For the first-party conferences our coding team has been working on some new chat applet whatsit that I don’t quite understand yet, and we’re hoping you can join us for a bit of a gathering as Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo present their new wares. Tom, James and our new member of staff will be chatting away from the UK, and Neon and I will be working on bringing you the facts as and when they happen. You are all cordially invited.

These are the dates and times of the conferences we’ll be covering. Mark them in your calendars!

Microsoft: June 4 09:30 PST / 17:30 BST

EA: June 4 13:00 PST / 21:00 BST

Ubisoft: June 4 13:30 PST / 23:00 BST

Sony: June 4 18:00 PST / June 5 02:00 BST

Nintendo: June 5 09:00 PST / 17:00 BST

As an aside: does anyone actually intend to stay up and watch the Sony conference?

I’m currently working on some party conference bingo cards, too, and I hope those of you who are of legal drinking age will be able to join in.

The dorks in the nerd cave are also working on some fanciful new E3 hub thing, which should allow you to keep your finger on the E3 pulse with terrifying ease. I’ve seen it; it looks very nice, and they’re just applying the finishing touches to it this week. Hurrah for technology!

So, yes, please do stick around and enjoy what we’ve got in store. Is there anything in particular you’d like to see covered? We’re finalising our schedules right now, and are open to suggestions.
