An imminent strike by voice actors has been averted thanks to a new deal between videogame publishers and the actors. The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists had planned a strike today over demands for residual payments from game revenues.
The strike was called off after a new pay deal was agreed. The new 3 and a half year deal sees a 36% pay rise increase and a 7.5% increase in contributions to union benefit plans.
Videogame publishers seem to have come off better than expected having agreed a new deal without having to offer residual payments. The deal has yet to be approved but should run until December 2008.
