Update, December 6, :

They’ve only gone and put a Bayonetta remaster on the Microsoft Store to boot! I don’t know who ‘they’ are but I do know that they've made the VideoGamer.com office very happy. A Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle for Xbox One is also loitering on the store, and a placeholder website has been seemingly set up for an announcement. Thank you, Gematsu.

Original story, December 5, :

PlatinumGames’ Vanquish has mysteriously materialised on the Microsoft Store, set for a launch date of February 18, 2020 (via Windows Central).

Twitter user h0x0d spotted the listing, and what’s more, this is no re-release from PlatinumGames and Sega. Vanquish would run at 4K resolutions with 60 frames per second on an Xbox One X, and it’s been “remastered for the first time on Xbox One.” Also, it says that this game would release on February 18, 2020. The internet is buzzing with excitement at the prospect and the entry has not been taken down by Microsoft in spite of all of the attention.

This would infer that the remaster is real and we’ll get our mitts on it in the winter of next year. However, neither developer nor publisher have acknowledged the leaked Vanquish remaster, so we do need to hold our horses until we get an official confirmation. In 2017, a Bayonetta and Vanquish bundle appeared to be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Sega did not confirm the existence of remasters for those games, and so there’s an example of once bitten, twice shy here.

Vanquish was well-loved when it released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2010. It shook up the 3D shooter conventions in adding a bullet-hell type of gameplay, beat ‘em up features, and the original sliding-boost mechanic. It was kind of campy, the story wasn’t exceptional, and it was very short, but we liked it a lot
