As we know, Valve had admirably managed to stop piracy of their game before it was released, thanks to the Steam content delivery system and by making online activation a necessity. If only Bungie and Rockstar could say the same thing. However, things like this rarely last, regardless of how fancy your piracy protection is, and now that a pirated copy is available, Valve are taking no prisoners.

In a bold move today, around 20,000 steam users who were either using a pirated copy of the game or using a CD key have had their accounts banned. Unfortunately, it seems that many legitimate users have now also got their accounts banned and Valve’s Steam forum has been over-loaded with irate users… whoops. We’ll keep you posted as to what happens next.
