It launched in November 2015 and allowed people to stream Steam games from their PC to their telly, but Valve has today announced that they're pulling the plug on the Steam Link.

'The supply of physical Steam Link hardware devices is sold out in Europe and almost sold out in the US,' Valve said in an update on Steam. Instead of the little black box, Valve is going to focus on the Steam Link app for 'many leading smart phones, tablets and televisions.'

Currently only available on Android devices, the app does what the box does, but doesn't have those pesky production costs attached, so it makes sense for Valve to kill it when it's not proving to be the hit they may have anticipated.

So, count yourself lucky if you were one of the folks that got one, then. You have a piece of Gabe and friends history in your front room.
