Valve has announced a return of its DOTA 2 tournament The International for 2012.

Valve launched The International tournament last year as part of Gamescom 2011, putting 16 DOTA2 teams against each other in a group stage, double elimination play-off. Teams compete for a grand prize of one million dollars.

The International 2012 will take place in Seattle’s Benaroya Hall during PAX Prime, running from August 31 – September 2.

So far the only announced teams in attendance are Na’vi, based in the Ukraine, and DK from China.

Na’vi won The International 2011, defeating EHOME 3-1 at the Grand Finals. After losing the final, two EHOME players left the team and and only managed a third place finish at WCG Asian Championships 2011. EHOME subsequently disbanded their DOTA division, only to reform in 2012 with three of the five players from the International 2011 team.

Will EHOME enter The International 2012?

DOTA 2 is currently scheduled to be released for PC in 2012, but you’ve got to remember that Valve is making it.
