Sega has revealed that a new Valkyria game is not only in development, but it’s scheduled to release next year too. Valkyria Project 4 will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch some time in 2018.

Valkyria is a series of tactical RPGs set in wartime on an alternate version of Earth. The announcement trailer, which dropped over the weekend, also includes a peek at the dev process, where life is breathed into characters who ‘live out moments of friendship, of rage, of anguish’ on the battlefield.

Valkyria Project 4 seems to be set in 1935 EC, during the Second European War, with the trailer showing footage of tanks and soldiers advancing symbolically over fields of flowers. Then, suddenly: snow. The trailer describes it as ‘the greatest chapter yet in the series that shook the world’, and there’s already a fair amount of excitement – though not from PC fans, who are upset that they apparently won’t be getting a version of the game on their platform.
