During the Oculus Connect 5 conference, the company revealed Vader Immortal Episode 1, a new Star Wars VR series for Oculus Quest.
The story series was written and executively produced by David S. Goyer, who wrote Batman Begins (great) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (not great). The series, which will be told in three parts, is set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
'Whether it’s hearing Darth Vader’s breathing behind you and physically turning to face him in person or wielding a lightsaber with your own hands, Vader Immortal captures the ultimate wish fulfillment,' said Oculus head of experience Colum Slevin in a statement. 'Untethered VR immerses you in this universe and places you at the center of this amazing story.'
Sadly, for those hankering for a power fantasy akin to the opening of The Force Unleashed, it sounds as if you don't play as Darth Vader.
Oculus has partnered with Industrial Light & Magic, Geroge Lucas' special effects company, to develop Vader immortal, and it's scheduled for release in 2019.
