Lucky US gamers will be able to get a free copy of Halo 3 when they buy a 360 this Christmas – but there’s no word on a similar offer for the UK.
To make use of the offer you’ll have to have an original Xbox and an Xbox Live account. If you then migrate to a Gold account on the 360 between November 21 and December 21 and register here Microsoft will send you a copy of its multi-million selling FPS in January next year.
The offer is clearly designed to entice original Xbox owners to upgrade to the 360 during the important Christmas period, and will be of no concern to existing owners of the console or Halo 3.
In the update to its website MS said the move was a “great reason to step up“.
It says: “As a current paid Xbox LIVE member using an original Xbox console (not Xbox 360), you’re more than ready for Halo 3, and here’s a great reason to step up. Buy your Xbox 360 between November 21 and December 21, 2007, move your existing paid Xbox LIVE account to an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription and then register on this site, and we will send you a copy of Halo 3. Finish the fight in high definition, with new weapons and challenges.“
