Microsoft has announced the release of a new backwards compatibility update for Xbox 360, bringing the complete list of original Xbox games which are playable on the Xbox 360 to 465 – not all titles are playable in all regions.

Despite adding 84 new titles to the BC list, there’s not all that many to write home about. Worth mentioning are Blinx: The Timesweeper, Blood Omen 2 and Freedom Fighters. The bulk of the new additions are older sports titles and racers, unlikely to be of much interest to the majority of gamers – especially those not fond of American sports. You’ll find a full list of compatible games over on Xbox.com.

In order to download the new update simply load up one of the games on the list and presuming you’re connected to Xbox LIVE you should be prompted to install the update. Those not connected to LIVE can grab a ISO image of the update over on Xbox.com.
